Hoag

Hoag is a long shawl/wrap that is knitting in worsted weight yarn on large needles. The pattern is named after Arthur Hoag who discovered the cosmic phenomenon now known as an Hoag’s Object; a galaxy within another galaxy. An example can be found in the Ophiuchus constellation. The name for this hat was inspired by my dad who calls beanies and hats meant for cold weather a “coconut warmer”.  The word kalapa is the Hawaiian word for coconut. To download this free pattern click here.
