The year that must not be mentioned (2020) was challenging for nearly everyone in the entire world. I am ready to move on and I am excited to think about all the good that will come this year in 2021!
Last night while I was knitting I was thinking about all the yarn I have in my small stash. I bought a lot of it during the year that must not be mentioned in order to support local yarn shops without a project in mind. As I was knitting, I was thinking about all the changes the year that must not be mentioned brought in my life. Instead of knitting purely as a hobby in Tucson, I now live in a much colder climate and my knits can be more much more frequently. I have already discovered I need more socks, mittens, hats, and sweaters. I have plenty of shawls, scarves, and wraps.
I spent some time and cleared out my entire queue on Ravelry. Then I looked through patterns I have favorited and assigned those random skeins to those projects. Now my Ravelry queue actually reflects projects that will be on my needles soon.
Sometimes, I have a hard time picking my next project. To help me decide I wrote the names of all the projects on a little piece of paper and put them in my sheep bowl (a bowl that looks like a sheep). When I am ready for a new project I am going to draw one out. I am very excited about all the projects, so drawing the next project will be a pleasant surprise. I even have a couple designs rambling around in my brain that are almost ready to be written and published.
I am optimistic about what 2021 will bring. I am excited to see what knitted projects I finish and I am thrilled to actually wear all of my knits!
“. . .Looking forward to things is half the pleasure of them.”

Such a great idea. I especially like the idea of using the queue, which I’ve never done. I have yarn on hold but haven’t organized it as such. Since organizing is one of my passions, I plan to do this next time I’m bored. Sine I’m currently knitting 3 different projects, it may be a while!
