Earlier this year a friend of mine asked if I had a picture of everything that I have ever knitted. I wish I could have said yes. Unfortunately, I have very few pictures of anything that I have knitted, expect what has appeared in this blog, because I didn’t think to document my projects.
This year I am trying something new. I am project journaling. Basically, I bought a notebook and every time I start a new project I write down details about the project. I am also including a small sample of the yarn I am using.
Each entry looks something like this:
Pattern Title:
Pattern Author:
Title of the Book (If applicable):
Date Started:
Date Finished:
Yarn (name, color, weight, dye lot etc.):
Notes (pattern issues, type of blocking, who the finished project went to, etc.)
So far this year I have started and finished 6 1/2 projects. 1/2 because there was a project I detested so much I actually cut it off the needles and threw it all away.
I have only been project journaling a short time but I already enjoy looking back at what I have knit so far this year. It is rewarding to look through my journal and see what I have accomplished in the last 4 months. I enjoy project journaling so much that I think all crafters should do it too. I know I won’t be giving it up any time soon.
